Authorities have confirmed that the body discovered in Hulhumale’ Water Theme Park earlier this week belonged to a Nepalese man who had been reported missing. Police said there are no signs of foul play connected to the case.
The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Rupan Thapa Magar, a Nepalese national. According to police, his identity was confirmed through forensic testing after the discovery on Monday. Magar had been reported missing on August 21.
Police noted that the body was already in an advanced state of decomposition when it was found, which initially made identification difficult.
In a statement released, police said their investigation so far has not pointed to any criminal involvement in the death. However, the case remains open and further inquiries are ongoing.
Authorities did not provide additional details about the circumstances leading up to Magar’s death or how his body ended up in the theme park area.
While the confirmation brings some answers, questions remain about the days between Magar being reported missing and his discovery. Police are expected to continue their investigation to piece together the timeline and cause of death.
For now, officials have assured the public that no evidence suggests foul play.
