The Maldivian government has announced that a total of MVR 27.9 million will be distributed among 18 registered media outlets as part of its policy to provide financial assistance to the local media industry through the State budget.
The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts published the official list of media outlets deemed eligible for the 2025 grant program, along with the exact amounts allocated to each. The initiative aims to strengthen independent journalism, enhance media sustainability, and support the overall development of the nation’s information sector.
According to the ministry’s list, Sangu TV in which Youth Minister Ibrahim Waheed (Asward) holds a stake received the highest allocation. The channel was granted MVR 3.8 million, while its digital platform Sangu Online secured MVR 1.3 million, bringing their combined total to MVR 5.1 million.
The Sun Media Group ranked second in total grant allocation. Its television arm SSTV will receive MVR 2.9 million, while Sun Online has been granted MVR 1.3 million, totaling MVR 4.2 million.
Meanwhile, VTV was awarded MVR 3 million, and its digital counterpart VNews Online received MVR 1.1 million, marking them as another major recipient of the financial assistance program.

Providing direct financial grants to media outlets was one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s campaign promises. The initiative, funded under 0.1 percent of the projected national revenue, represents the first time in Maldivian history that the government is extending state-funded grants to registered private media organizations.
Officials from the Ministry stated that the grants were awarded based on specific eligibility criteria and a point-based evaluation system, ensuring that only media outlets meeting established professional standards qualified for funding.

ޒުވާނުން ބާރުވެރިކުރުވުމާ ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާ (މިނިސްޓްރީ އޮފް ޔޫތް އެމްޕަވަރމަންޓް، އިންފޮމޭޝަން އެންޑް އާޓްސް) އިން ވަނީ މި ގްރާންޓަށް ޝަރުޠު ހަމަވެގެން ފާސްކުރެވުނު މީޑިއާތަކުގެ ލިސްޓާއި، ކޮންމެ މީޑިއާއަކަށް ޚަރަދުކުރެވޭނެ ޢަދަދުތައް އާންމުކޮށްފައެވެ.
ގްރާންޓުގެ ބޮޑެތި ޢަދަދުތައް ލިބޭ ފަރާތްތައް:
މިނިސްޓަރު އިބްރާހިމް ވަޙީދު (އަސްވާޑް) ގެ ހިއްސާ އޮންނަ ސަންގު ޓީވީ އަށް އެންމެ ބޮޑު ޢަދަދު ކަމަށްވާ 3.8 މިލިއަން ރުފިޔާ ލިބިފައިވެއެވެ. ސަންގު އޮންލައިންއަށް 1.3 މިލިއަން ރުފިޔާ ލިބޭއިރު، ޖުމްލަ 5.1 މިލިއަން ރުފިޔާ ސަންގުގެ މީޑިއާތަކަށް ލިބެއެވެ.
ދެވަނައަށް އެންމެ ބޮޑު ޢަދަދު ލިބިފައިވަނީ ސަން މީޑިއާ ގްރޫޕް އަށެވެ. އެ ގްރޫޕްގެ އެސްއެސްޓީވީ (SSTV) އަށް 2.9 މިލިއަން ރުފިޔާ އަދި ސަން އޮންލައިންއަށް 1.3 މިލިއަން ރުފިޔާ ލިބެއެވެ.
މީގެ އިތުރުން ވީޓީވީ އަށް 3 މިލިއަން ރުފިޔާ ލިބޭއިރު، ވީނިއުސް އޮންލައިންއަށް ލިބެނީ 1.1 މިލިއަން ރުފިޔާ އެވެ.

މި ގްރާންޓު ދެވޭނީ ކަނޑައެޅިފައިވާ ޝަރުޠުތައް ފުރިހަމަކޮށް، މަދުވެގެން ހޯދަންޖެހޭ މާކުސް ލިބޭ މީޑިއާ އިދާރާތަކަށެވެ. މިއީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ސަރުކާރުގެ ބަޖެޓުން ރަޖިސްޓްރީކޮށްފައިވާ އަމިއްލަ މީޑިއާތަކަށް ގްރާންޓު ދެވޭ ފުރަތަމަ ފަހަރެވެ.
