President Muizzu Inaugurates Dedicated Media Platform Outside President’s Office
In a move aimed at improving transparency and facilitating better access to government-related updates, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated a new media stand—known as ‘Media Fenda’—situated directly outside the President’s Office.
The newly constructed structure is located at the south gate of the President’s Office, a frequently used entrance point for journalists and media professionals. Designed to provide a permanent, designated space for media personnel, the platform is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening the flow of public information from key government offices.
According to an official statement from the President’s Office, Media Fenda aims to facilitate timely and efficient access to real-time updates and official communications. The stand allows media houses to monitor and report on developments not only at the President’s Office but also at adjacent ministries located in the administrative complex.
The facility will be operational during official working hours, with flexibility granted for round-the-clock use, including public holidays and weekends. This measure is expected to enable broader coverage of emergency or urgent matters, should they arise outside standard office hours.
Exclusive Access for Registered Journalists
Access to Media Fenda is granted exclusively to accredited media professionals who meet specific eligibility criteria. Only journalists representing active media outlets registered with the Maldives Media Council will be issued special permits to utilize the facility.
This access control is intended to ensure that the platform is used responsibly and by individuals committed to ethical journalism and public service reporting. The President’s Office emphasized that the system will uphold both professional standards and national security protocols.
Green Zone Compliance and Security Oversight
The newly established media zone falls within the designated Green Zone, a high-security area around key government institutions. As such, all personnel using Media Fenda must comply with directives from national security forces tasked with monitoring the zone.
Security measures will remain in place to ensure that the media's presence does not interfere with the operations of the President’s Office or compromise the integrity of the Green Zone. The administration has stated that these guidelines are critical for balancing open access with national safety.
This development marks a significant step by the Muizzu administration to promote transparency, accountability, and ease of access for the press.
