Applications Open for Presidential and High Achievers Scholarships 2025

The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has officially opened applications for the 2025 Presidential and High Achievers Scholarships. These prestigious government-funded scholarships provide exceptional students with the opportunity to pursue higher education in their chosen fields, both locally and internationally.

Presidential Scholarship

The Presidential Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity for students who wish to pursue their first degree abroad. Students selected for this scholarship can study in any country and any field of their choice, with all educational expenses covered by the government.

To be eligible for the Presidential Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Completed their O-Level exams in 2024

  • Scored A-star grades in at least five subjects, including mandatory A-stars in Islam and Dhivehi

  • Achieved at least a C grade in English

According to the ministry, students who have been named in the official eligibility list can now begin submitting their applications via the “MyEdu” portal.

High Achievers Scholarship

The High Achievers Scholarship targets students who plan to study programs listed under the "National Training Needs List" published by the Ministry. It is designed to encourage the pursuit of priority areas that are essential for the country’s development.

This scholarship is open to students who have completed their A-Level or equivalent qualifications and meet the following academic requirements:

  • A grades in three A-Level subjects

  • A grades in both Dhivehi and Islam

  • Or an A final average at the Shahada Secondary examinations conducted at Al Madhurasathul Arabiyyathul Islaamiyya, along with A grades in Dhivehi and Islam

Recipients of the High Achievers Scholarship can pursue their studies in countries within SAARC and OECD regions, including Maldives, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, and China.

Application Process and Deadlines

Students who qualify for either scholarship must submit their applications along with all required documentation before the deadline of 30th September 2025. The Ministry emphasized the importance of timely applications as it needs to finalize preparations up to 18 months in advance of course start dates.

Applications can be submitted via the ministry's online portal, MyEdu. https://myedu.egov.mv/

Recognizing Academic Excellence

During last year’s award ceremony, a total of 98 students were recognized for their academic achievements. Eleven students received the Presidential Scholarship, while 87 were awarded the High Achievers Scholarship.

Among the Presidential Scholarship recipients were six students from the Center for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), two from Baa Atoll Education Center, and one each from Jamaluddin School, Ahmadiyya International School, and Al Madhurasathul Arabiyyathul Islaamiyya.

In 2023, 19 students from schools in Male’ were also honored with the Presidential Scholarship.

This year’s eligible students, who met the criteria through their outstanding academic performance, now have the chance to take the next step in shaping their educational futures with government support.
