Shaheeb Ibrahim, Former Drug Suspect, Now Wanted by Criminal Court

Shaheeb Ibrahim, 47, a resident of GA. Villigili and previously arrested for drug smuggling, is once again a person of interest in a Criminal Court case, authorities confirmed today. Details of the latest charges remain unclear.

Shaheeb first gained attention in 2020 when he was arrested for allegedly smuggling 130 kilograms of drugs aboard a fishing vessel. Despite police presenting additional evidence, he was granted bail after a single remand.

Earlier, Shaheeb had also been linked to a 2019 case involving an Iranian drug-smuggling vessel. Seven Iranian nationals were arrested alongside him, but all were released.

Beyond his legal troubles, Shaheeb is a former political activist with the PPP/PNC alliance. He ran for Parliament in 2019 under the opposition coalition. His name has also surfaced in allegations related to an illegal flat extortion scheme during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration.

Authorities have now listed Shaheeb as wanted in connection with an ongoing Criminal Court investigation. Police have not disclosed the specifics of the case or the charges he faces.
