Laboratory services will be available across every inhabited island in the Maldives by the end of next year, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced on Sunday. The initiative marks a major milestone in the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare accessibility nationwide.
Speaking during his visit to Noomaraa in Shaviyani Atoll, the first stop on his atoll tour, President Muizzu emphasized that the government has placed health sector development at the forefront of its agenda. He noted that while the previous administration had initiated laboratory construction projects across several islands, many remained unfinished or under-equipped.
“We have to establish laboratory services in all the islands of the Maldives within two years, this year and next year,” President Muizzu said, reaffirming his administration’s determination to bridge healthcare gaps and provide consistent medical testing facilities across the nation.
In his remarks, the President highlighted the growing demand from island health centers for better diagnostic services. He stated that the government’s plan will not only complete pending projects but also upgrade existing laboratories with modern facilities.
The laboratory in Noomaraa, for instance, will be enhanced to allow essential health tests to be conducted directly on the island, reducing the need for patients to travel to regional hospitals for basic diagnostics.
The expansion of laboratory services aligns with the government’s broader vision of improving healthcare accessibility for all citizens, regardless of location. By equipping each island with reliable testing capabilities, the initiative aims to reduce diagnostic delays, enhance patient care, and strengthen the overall public health system.
President Muizzu also assured island communities that his administration will fulfill all its promises—and more—during his ongoing visit to 14 islands in Shaviyani Atoll. The tour, which began in Noomaraa, is set to conclude on Thursday.

ރައީސް މުޢިއްޒު ވިދާޅުވީ، ޞިއްޙީ ދާއިރާއަކީ އެމަނިކުފާނު އެންމެ އިސްކަންދެއްވައިގެން ތަރައްޤީ ކުރައްވާނެ ދާއިރާ ކަމަށެވެ. އެގޮތުން، އިންސާނީ ވަސީލަތްތަކާއި ޢުމްރާނީ ވަސީލަތްތައް ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް މިހާރު ވެސް މަސައްކަތްތައް ކުރިއަށްދާ ކަމަށް އެމަނިކުފާނު ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ. ރާއްޖޭގެ ރަށްރަށުގައި ދެ އަހަރު ދުވަހުގެ ތެރޭގައި ޞިއްޙީ ލެބޯޓްރީތައް ޤާއިމުކޮށް ނިންމެވުމުގެ ޢަޒުމާ އެއްގޮތަށް، ށ. ނޫމަރާގެ ލެބޯޓްރީ ވެސް ތަރައްޤީ ކޮށްދެއްވާނެ ކަމުގެ އިތުބާރު ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ދެއްވިއެވެ.

- ބަނދަރު މަސައްކަތް: ރައްޔިތުންގެ އެދުމަށް ރިޢާޔަތްކޮށް، ދޯނި އެހެލާނެ ސަރަޙައްދަކާއި މޫދަށް އެރޭނެ ސަރަޙައްދެއް ހިމެނޭ ގޮތަށް ބަނދަރުގެ މަސައްކަތް ކުރިއަށް ގެންދަވާނެއެވެ.
- ފެނާއި ނަރުދަމާ: މި ޚިދުމަތްތައް ވެސް ރަނގަޅު ފެންވަރެއްގައި ކުރިއަށްދާނެ ކަމުގެ ޔަޤީންކަން ދެއްވިއެވެ.
- އިންޖީނުގެ: ރަމަޟާން މަސް ފެށުމުގެ ކުރިން އިންޖީނުގެ މަސައްކަތް ނިންމައި، އެހެން ތަނަކަށް ބަދަލުކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތް ފެނަކައާ ގުޅިގެން ނިންމަވާނެއެވެ.
- ދަތުރުފަތުރު (RTL): ރައްޔިތުންގެ ކަންބޮޑުވުމެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި އޮތް އާރް.ޓީ.އެލް (RTL) ރޫޓު ދިގުވުމުގެ މައްސަލައަށް ވެސް ޙައްލު ހޯއްދަވައިދެއްވާނެއެވެ.
