A husband and wife were found dead side by side in their home in S. Hithadhoo earlier today, raising concerns over a suspected electrocution incident. Authorities report that the bodies have been transported to the hospital for further examination.
The deceased have been identified as Ibrahim Abdulla, 60, from Kureynge, S. Hithadhoo, and Farahnaaz Rasheed, 52, from Nares, S. Maradhoo.
Relatives had grown concerned after losing contact with the couple since last night and went to check on them. A local source told Mihaaru News that the couple was found in the bathroom attached to their bedroom. Both showed visible injuries, including a severe gash near the man’s ear.
Based on objects found inside the bathroom, sources suggest the couple may have been performing work in the space when an electrical accident occurred. “It strongly appears as if the man was working and got electrocuted, collapsing immediately. The woman may have been electrocuted while attempting to assist him. They were found with their heads touching, and the power had gone out by the time we arrived,” the source said.
The couple had recently moved into the residence, located near the Hithadhoo Tourism Zone, just two days prior to the incident. Since the area lacks proper electricity infrastructure, they were relying on a small generator for power, which investigators are now examining as a possible factor in the accident.

އިއްޔެ ރެއިން ފެށިގެން މި ދެމަފިރިންގެ ޚަބަރެއް ނުވުމުގެ ސަބަބުން، ގާތްތިމާގެ މީހުން އެމީހުން ދިރިއުޅޭ ގެއަށް ގޮސް ބެލިއިރު، އެތެރެއިން މަރުވެފައި އޮއްވައި ފެނުނީއެވެ.
މި ހާދިސާ ހިނގި ގެއަށް ދިޔަ މީހަކު މަޢުލޫމާތު ދެމުން ބުނެފައިވާ ގޮތުގައި، މި ދެމަފިރިން ފެނިފައިވަނީ ނިދާ ކޮޓަރިއަކާ ގުޅިފައިވާ ފާޚާނާއެއްގެ ތެރެއިންނެވެ. ފިރިހެނާގެ ކަންފަތް ކައިރީގައި ބޮޑު ޒަޚަމެއް ހުރިއިރު، ދެމީހުންގެ ހަށިގަނޑުގައި ވެސް އަނިޔާގެ ނިޝާންތަކެއް ފެންނަން ހުއްޓެވެ.
މަސްދަރު ބުނި ގޮތުގައި، ފާޚާނާގެ ތެރެއިން ފެނުނު ތަކެއްޗަށް ބަލާއިރު، އެ ދެމަފިރިންނަށް ކަރަންޓުގެ ޝޮކެއް ލިބިގެން ކުއްލިއަކަށް މަރުވީ ފާޚާނާގައި މަސައްކަތެއް ކުރަނިކޮށް ކަމަށް ބެލެވެއެވެ.

ކަރަންޓު ޝޮކު ލިބިގެން ފިރިހެނާ ވެއްޓުނީ ކަމަށް ވަރަށް ބޮޑަށް ބެލެވެއެވެ. އަދި އަންހެނާ މަރުވީ ފިރިހެނާއަށް އެހީތެރިވާން މަސައްކަތްކުރަނިކޮށް ޝޮކު ލިބިގެން ކަމަށް ބެލެވެއެވެ.
އެމީހުން ގެއަށް ވަން އިރު ގެއިން ކަރަންޓު ކެނޑިފައި ހުރިއިރު، ދެމީހުން ވެސް ފެނިފައިވަނީ ބޯތައް ޖެހިފައި އޮއްވައެވެ.
މި ދެމަފިރިން ދިރިއުޅެމުން ދިޔަ ގެ ހުންނަނީ ހިތަދޫ ޓޫރިޒަމް ޒޯން ކައިރީގައެވެ. އެމީހުން މި ގެއަށް ބަދަލުވީ އެންމެ ދެތިން ދުވަސް ކުރިންނެވެ. މި ސަރަޙައްދަށް އަދި ކަރަންޓުގެ ޚިދުމަތް ގާއިމުކުރެވިފައި ނުވާތީ، އެމީހުން ކަރަންޓު ލިބިގަތުމަށް ބޭނުންކުރަމުން ދިޔައީ ކުޑަ ޖަނަރޭޓަރެކެވެ.
