Nine Arrested in Drug Operations on Nilandhoo
Police have arrested nine individuals in two separate drug-related operations on Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll, on Saturday. The raids targeted suspected drug possession, use, and distribution on the island.
The first operation came after police received intelligence regarding suspected drug activities at a local residence. Acting under a court order, officers recovered an empty film canister containing what appeared to be drugs. Following the seizure, eight individuals were taken into custody.

Following initial processing, one suspect was released. One individual was remanded for 15 days, while the remaining six were remanded for 10 days.
On the same day, police conducted a second operation at Nilandhoo Harbour. Officers arrested 19-year-old Mohamed Maniu of Shabnamge, Nilandhoo. During the search, authorities seized six cellophane bags containing suspected drugs. Maniu has been remanded for 10 days.
Both cases are currently under investigation by Nilandhoo Police Station. Authorities have not disclosed further details, but the operations underscore ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related crimes in Faafu Atoll.
