Man Arrested for Threatening Medical Staff at IGMH

Police have taken a 28-year-old man into custody after he allegedly threatened to kill medical staff while receiving treatment for injuries sustained in a fight in Male’.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning last week when Looth Ibrahim, originally from Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo, was admitted to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

According to a police spokesperson, Ibrahim reportedly intimidated and threatened hospital personnel attending to his injuries. Authorities later discovered a knife in his pocket, raising further safety concerns for the staff.

Following a court order, Ibrahim was arrested on Friday and has been remanded in custody for 15 days. Police confirmed that the case is still under investigation as authorities continue to gather details.

Hospital staff and law enforcement officials have emphasized the importance of safety in medical facilities, reminding the public that threatening healthcare workers carries serious legal consequences.
