Fenaka Corporation is stepping up efforts to address ongoing electricity shortages in Addu City by dispatching two new 1.8MW generators. The generators, manufactured by Cummins, arrived in Male' last night and are being readied for transport to the southern atoll.
In addition to the two new units, Fenaka confirmed that a 1.6MW generator will also be sent to Addu City soon. The company is actively seeking a long-term solution to the region’s chronic power supply issues and is in the process of procuring further generators to ensure a stable and uninterrupted electricity service for residents.
The connected islands of Addu City require approximately 12MW of electricity during peak hours. Currently, 20 generator sets with a total capacity of 26.8MW have been installed in Hithadhoo. However, several units are out of service due to technical problems, contributing to frequent power outages across the city.
Residents have endured recurring power cuts for over a year. Earlier this year, in March, Fenaka deployed a 1.8MW generator to stabilise supply. Repairs to damaged generators are ongoing, with some replacement parts being sourced internationally, which has slowed restoration efforts.
The delivery of these new generators comes ahead of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s scheduled visit to Addu City next week.

ފެނަކައިން ބުނެފައިވާ ގޮތުގައި މި ދެ ޖެނެރޭޓަރަކީ ކަމިންސް (Cummins) ބްރޭންޑުގެ ޖެނެރޭޓަރުތަކެކެވެ. މި ތަކެތި މާލެއަށް ގެނެސްފައިވަނީ އިއްޔެ ރޭގައެވެ. މިހާރު ދަނީ އައްޑުއަށް ގެންދިއުމަށްޓަކައި އެ ތަކެތި ތައްޔާރުކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތް ކުރަމުންނެވެ.
މީގެ އިތުރުން، 1.6 މެގަވޮޓްގެ އިތުރު ޖެނެރޭޓަރެއްވެސް އައްޑޫ ސިޓީއަށް ފޮނުވުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވާ ކަމަށް ފެނަކައިން ހާމަކުރެއެވެ.
ދާއިމީ ޙައްލެއް ހޯދުމުގެ މަސައްކަތް
ފެނަކައިން ބުނެފައިވާ ގޮތުގައި އައްޑޫ ސިޓީގެ ކަރަންޓު މައްސަލައަށް ދާއިމީ ޙައްލެއް ހޯދުމަށް މަސައްކަތް ކުރަމުންދާނެއެވެ. އެގޮތުން، ކަރަންޓުގެ ޚިދުމަތް ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތަކަށް ޔަޤީންކުރުމަށްޓަކައި އިތުރު ޖެނެރޭޓަރެއް ހޯދުމުގެ މަސައްކަތްވެސް ކުރިއަށްދާކަމަށް އެ ކުންފުނިން ހާމަކުރެއެވެ.
އައްޑޫގެ ގުޅިފައިވާ ރަށްތަކަށް އެންމެ ބާރުބޮޑު ގަޑިތަކުގައި ގާތްގަނޑަކަށް 12 މެގަވޮޓްގެ ކަރަންޓު ބޭނުންވެއެވެ. މިހާރު ހިތަދޫގައި ޖުމުލަ 26.8 މެގަވޮޓްގެ 20 ޖެނެރޭޓަރު ސެޓް ހުރިއިރު، އެތަނުން ގިނަ ޖެނެރޭޓަރުތަކެއް ވަނީ ފަންނީ މައްސަލަތަކުގެ ސަބަބުން ހުއްޓިފައެވެ. ނަތީޖާއެއްގެ ގޮތުން އެ ސިޓީގައި އަންނަނީ ތަކުރާރުކޮށް ކަރަންޓު ކެނޑެމުންނެވެ.
އެއް އަހަރަށް ވުރެ ގިނަ ދުވަސްވެފައިވާ މި މައްސަލައަށް ޙައްލެއް ހޯދުމަށް މިދިޔަ މާރިޗު މަހު ވެސް 1.8 މެގަވޮޓްގެ ޖެނެރޭޓަރެއް ފެނަކައިން ވަނީ އައްޑުއަށް ފޮނުވައިފައެވެ. އަދި ހަލާކުވެފައިވާ ޔުނިޓުތައް މަރާމާތުކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތް ކުރިއަށްދާ ކަމަށާއި، ބައެއް ސްޕެއާރ ޕާޓްސް ބޭރުން ހޯދަމުންދާ ކަމަށްވެސް ފެނަކައިން ބުނެއެވެ.
އެ ދެ ޖެނެރޭޓަރު ފޮނުވަނީ ރައީސް ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒު އަންނަ ހަފްތާގައި އައްޑޫ ސިޓީއަށް ކުރައްވާ ދަތުރުފުޅަކާ ދިމާކޮށެވެ.
