The State Bank of India (SBI) in the Maldives has introduced temporary restrictions on outward remittances and international card usage, citing a shortage of U.S. dollar inflows.
According to the bank, the limited availability of foreign currency has made it challenging to maintain the current salary remittance limits for Indian expatriates living and working in the Maldives. Effective 25 October 2025, the monthly outward remittance limit will be reduced to USD 150 (approximately MVR 2,313) per account holder.
In addition to remittance limits, SBI has temporarily suspended the use of Maldivian rufiyaa-denominated cards for ATM withdrawals and ECOM/POS transactions abroad. The bank emphasized that these measures are provisional and will be reassessed as the foreign exchange situation improves.
SBI assured customers that normal limits will be reinstated once U.S. dollar availability stabilizes. The bank also reminded account holders that unused monthly remittance allowances will not roll over to subsequent months. Customers were further urged to remain vigilant against fraudulent calls attempting to obtain personal information or one-time passwords.
This move highlights ongoing challenges in managing foreign exchange flows in the Maldives, particularly for expatriate communities who rely on regular remittances for family support and daily expenses.

- ރެމިޓަންސްގެ ލިމިޓް ދަށްކޮށްފި: އަންނަ އޮކްޓޫބަރު 25، 2025 އިން ފެށިގެން، ކޮންމެ އެކައުންޓު ހޯލްޑަރަކަށް މަހެއްގެ މައްޗަށް ބޭރަށް ފޮނުވޭ ޑޮލަރުގެ ޢަދަދު 150 (ގާތްގަނޑަކަށް 2,313.00 ރުފިޔާ) އަށް ވަނީ ދަށްކޮށްފައެވެ. މިގޮތަށް ލިމިޓް ކުޑަކުރީ، ރާއްޖޭގައި މަސައްކަތްކުރާ އިންޑިއާގެ ރައްޔިތުންނަށް މިހާރު ދެމުން އައި މުސާރަ ފޮނުވުމުގެ ލިމިޓް ދެމެހެއްޓުމަށް ޑޮލަރު ނުލިބުމުގެ ސަބަބުންނެވެ.
- ރާއްޖެއިން ބޭރުގެ ކާޑު މުޢާމަލާތްތައް ހުއްޓާލައިފި: މީގެ އިތުރުން، ރާއްޖޭގެ ރުފިޔާއިން މުޢާމަލާތްކުރާ ކާޑު، ރާއްޖެއިން ބޭރުގެ އޭޓީއެމްތަކުން ފައިސާ ނެގުމަށް ނުވަތަ އީކޮމް (ECOM/POS) މުޢާމަލާތްތަކަށް ބޭނުންކުރުން ވެސް ވަގުތީ ގޮތުން ހުއްޓާލާފައިވާ ކަމަށް ބޭންކުން ބުނެއެވެ.

އަދި، ކަސްޓަމަރުން ބޭނުންނުކޮށް ހުރި މަސް ނިމޭ ލިމިޓްތައް ދެން އަންނަ މަސްތަކަށް ޓްރާންސްފަރ ނުވާނެ ކަމަށްވެސް އެސްބީއައިއިން ވަނީ ހަނދާންކޮށްދީފައެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން، ފޯނުކޯލުތަކުން ނުވަތަ އެހެނިހެން ގޮތްގޮތުން ޕާސަނަލް މަޢުލޫމާތާއި ވަން-ޓައިމް ޕާސްވޯޑު (އޯޓީޕީ) ހޯދުމަށް މަސައްކަތްކުރާ މަކަރާއި ހީލަތުން ރައްކާތެރިވުމަށް ވެސް އެ ބޭންކުން އިލްތިމާސްކޮށްފައިވެއެވެ.
