Six Arrested in Malé Following Two Separate Street Violence Incidents

Authorities have arrested six individuals in Malé in connection with two separate incidents of street violence, according to an official police statement.

The first incident occurred on October 4 at approximately 8:30 p.m. in Mahchangolhi ward. Police reported that a man sitting on a parked motorcycle was attacked with a dangerous weapon.

Following an investigation, four suspects were taken into custody:

• Thoaif Rafeeq, 26, Moara, GA. Maamendhoo

• Amsal Abdulla, 25, Sunrise, GDh. Rathafandhoo

• Ahmed Neezadh, 29, Rosebud, Thundi, L. Gan

• Abdulla Israq, 19, Gulbakaage, GDh. Thinadhoo

The four were arrested last Friday night and later presented in court for their remand hearing. They have been placed in custody until the conclusion of their trial.

The second violent episode took place after sunset last Tuesday near the Post Office on Boduthakurufaanu Magu. According to police, two individuals on a motorcycle attacked a man standing nearby.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with this attack:

• Shamaal Hussain, 22, Musthareege, Th. Gaadhiffushi

• Rajwan Latheef, 24, Murin’gi, L. Maamendhoo

Authorities confirmed that all victims were treated at a local hospital and have since been discharged.

Police continue to investigate both incidents and have assured the public that safety measures in Malé are being reinforced. The arrests reflect ongoing efforts to curb street violence in the capital.
