Applications Open for Master’s Scholarships in South Korea

The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development has officially announced the opening of applications for master’s degree scholarships in South Korea, offering Maldivian students a chance to study at some of the country’s top universities.

Five Prestigious Programs Available

According to the ministry’s announcement, five scholarships are available for the upcoming intake, each tailored to a specific field of study. The selected candidates will pursue master’s degrees at the following renowned institutions:

• Gender Equality – Ewha Women’s University

• Smart City Management and Technology – Hanyang University

• Global Education and Leadership – Korea National University of Education

• Tax and Fiscal Policy – Korea University

• Public Management and Administrative Reform – Seoul National University

These programs are designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and global perspectives in their respective areas of specialization.

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

To qualify, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and be under 35 years of age as of 1 April 2026. English proficiency is also required, with a minimum TOEFL score of 570 or an IELTS score of 6.0.

Each applicant may apply for only one program. Candidates who currently have student loans must not be in default, and those who have previously completed a state-funded master’s degree are not eligible.

The ministry will nominate four candidates per program, after which the final selection will be made by the respective scholarship authority in South Korea.

The scholarship provides full financial coverage, including tuition fees, airfare, accommodation, insurance, and monthly allowances. This ensures that selected students can focus fully on their studies and cultural experience without financial concerns.

Interested applicants are required to submit their online applications via the MyEdu portal no later than 14:00 on 17 November 2025. Additionally, hard copy submissions must be delivered to the ministry by 12:00 pm on 18 November 2025.

Students are encouraged to prepare their documents early and review all eligibility requirements carefully to ensure a smooth application process.
