Sri Lanka’s Department of Immigration and Emigration has officially withdrawn the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) requirement for short-term visitors. The decision, effective immediately, reverts the country’s visa procedures to the system that existed before the ETA mandate was introduced on 15 October. All related ETA services and standard visa issuance processes will continue without interruption.
Following the initial ETA announcement, the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had issued a travel advisory urging citizens to remain cautious and comply with Sri Lankan immigration regulations. Officials emphasized that the revocation of the ETA rule does not alter the visa policy for Maldivian nationals traveling to Sri Lanka. Travelers are advised to follow existing procedures to ensure a smooth entry.
India has also recently updated its visitor requirements, introducing a mandatory e-arrival card for all incoming travelers. The Maldivian Foreign Ministry’s advisory aims to keep citizens informed of such changes, helping them comply with the correct immigration procedures when visiting neighboring countries.

މި ބަދަލާއެކު، އީޓީއޭގެ ޤަވާއިދު އޮކްޓޫބަރު 15 ގައި ޢަމަލުކުރަން ފެށުމުގެ ކުރިން އޮތް ވިސާ ނިޒާމަށް އަނބުރާ ރުޖޫޢަވީއެވެ. އީޓީއޭގެ ހިދުމަތްތަކާއި އެހެނިހެން ވިސާ ދޫކުރުމުގެ މުޢާމަލާތްތަކަށް ބަދަލެއް ނާންނާނެ ކަމަށް ވެސް އެ ޑިޕާޓްމަންޓުން ބުނެއެވެ.
އީޓީއޭގެ ޤަވާއިދު އިޢުލާނުކުރި ހިނދު، ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ޚާރިޖީ ވުޒާރާއިން ވަނީ ދިވެހި ރައްޔިތުން ސްރީ ލަންކާއަށް ދަތުރުކުރުމުގައި ރައްކާތެރިވުމަށާއި އެ ޤައުމުގެ އިމިގްރޭޝަން ޤަވާޢިދުތަކަށް ޢަމަލުކުރުމަށް އިރުޝާދު ދެއްވާފައެވެ.
ނަމަވެސް، ޚާރިޖީ ވުޒާރާއިން ސާފުކޮށްދެއްވާފައިވާ ގޮތުގައި، އީޓީއޭގެ ޤަވާއިދު ބާޠިލުކުރި ނަމަވެސް، ދިވެހި ރައްޔިތުން ސްރީ ލަންކާއަށް ދަތުރުކުރުމުގައި ވިސާ ހޯދާނެ ގޮތަށް ބަދަލެއް ނާދެއެވެ.
ދާދި ފަހުން އިންޑިއާއިން ވެސް އެ ޤައުމަށް ޒިޔާރަތްކުރާ ހުރިހާ ފަރާތްތަކުން، އެތެރެވުމުގެ ކުރިން އީ-އެރައިވަލް ކާޑު ފުރިހަމަކުރަން ޖެހޭ ގޮތަށް ޤަވާއިދު ބަދަލުކޮށްފައިވެއެވެ. ޚާރިޖީ ވުޒާރާގެ އިރުޝާދުގެ މަޤްޞަދަކީ، ދިވެހިން ބޭރު ޤައުމުތަކަށް ދަތުރުކުރާއިރު މިފަދަ ބަދަލުތަކާ މެދު މައުލޫމާތު ލިބިފައިތިބުން ކަށަވަރުކުރުމާއި، އެ ޤައުމުތަކުގެ ރަނގަޅު އުސޫލުތަކަށް ތަބާވުމަށް ހަނދާންކޮށްދިނުމެވެ.
