Gedhoruveriyaa Flat Recipients to Be Contacted Only Through Official Portal
The Ministry of Housing has announced that recipients of flats under the Gedhoruveriyaa housing scheme will be contacted exclusively through the official Housing Policy Portal for signing agreements and receiving their homes.
According to the ministry, all communication regarding the 4,000 allocated flats will take place within the portal. Neither the Housing Ministry nor Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) will reach out to individuals through other channels unless they are listed in the portal system.
Public Urged to Watch Out for Scams
Authorities have issued a cautionary note to the public, urging residents to be wary of fraudulent messages or phone calls related to the housing program. Any communication that doesn't originate from the portal should be considered suspicious.
“No one who is not listed in the portal will be contacted by the ministry or FDC,” the Housing Ministry clarified in an official statement.
Signing Process to Begin Next Week
The process of signing agreements is set to start next week. Priority will be given to those who have been assigned flats in towers that are ready for occupancy. The ministry will share the names of eligible recipients with FDC, which will then handle the signing and handover process.
Each flat is offered on a 25-year contract basis. Individuals will become homeowners upon completing the full term of rental or installment payments.
Only 1,820 Recipients Meet Criteria
While 4,000 flats were allocated by the previous administration, a recent eligibility review found that only 1,820 applicants met the necessary requirements. After considering the appeals submitted, the government has decided to move forward with this current list rather than reopening the application process.
The ministry noted that any individual who fails to meet the criteria at the time of signing will be removed from the list and will not receive a flat, regardless of earlier approval.
