According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the "Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirement for their Respective Citizens" was officially signed on July 9, 2025. Under the terms of the agreement, Maldivian citizens will be granted a 30-day visa on arrival in Dominica, and Dominican citizens will receive the same when entering the Maldives.

The agreement was signed at the United Nations headquarters by Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the UN, and Dr. Philbert Aaron, Permanent Representative of Dominica.

Strengthening Diplomatic and People-to-People Connections

The Foreign Ministry stated that this new arrangement is expected to simplify travel procedures, foster people-to-people connections, and deepen bilateral relations between the Maldives and Dominica. It reflects both countries’ shared interest in building stronger global partnerships and supporting the free movement of citizens.

With this latest agreement, Maldivian travelers now have easier access to yet another destination in the Caribbean, boosting tourism and cultural exchange opportunities.
