The Maldives Police Service has announced plans to develop a new application designed to combat phone and online scams by logging scammers’ phone numbers, bank accounts, and phishing links.
Speaking on PSM’s Raajje Miadhu program last Friday, Inspector of Police Azeef Abbas explained that the app will allow users to check suspicious calls and messages, providing timely information to the public.
“If someone receives a scam call, the details will be logged into the application. Once verified, the information—including phone numbers, bank accounts, links, and prompt messages—will be available for public access, with hourly updates,” said Inspector Azeef.
The police official highlighted that the app aims to significantly reduce the risk of scams. “If people are uncertain about a call or message, they can search the number or link through the app. This will help prevent potential fraud,” he said.
Scammers have reportedly obtained millions of Rufiyaa using various techniques, ranging from phishing links to fake calls. The new app is expected to be a major tool in tackling such schemes.
Inspector Azeef emphasized the importance of rapid action once scam information is published. Internet service providers will be required to take immediate measures to block suspicious accounts or numbers. “Delays in response can lead to more people being scammed,” he noted.
Authorities also addressed public frustration over slow investigations into scam reports. The application will provide updates on submitted cases, ensuring transparency and allowing the public to track the progress of investigations.
“With this initiative, we hope to create a safer digital environment for everyone and empower individuals to protect themselves against scams,” Azeef added.

އެޕްލިކޭޝަން މަސައްކަތްކުރާނެ ގޮތް:
އަޒީފް ވިދާޅުވި ގޮތުގައި، އެއްވެސް މީހަކަށް ސްކޭމް ކޯލެއް ނުވަތަ މެސެޖެއް ލިބިއްޖެނަމަ، އެ މަޢުލޫމާތު މި އެޕްލިކޭޝަނަށް ލޮގްކުރެވޭނެއެވެ. އެއަށްފަހު، އެ މަޢުލޫމާތުގެ ސައްޙަކަން ކަށަވަރުކުރުމަށްފަހު، ޢާންމުންނަށް ބޭނުންކުރެވޭނެ ގޮތަށް އެޕްލިކޭޝަނުން ކޮންމެ ގަޑިއިރަކުން ވެސް އަޕްޑޭޓްކުރެވޭނެއެވެ.
އަޒީފް އިތުރަށް ވިދާޅުވީ، މިއީ ސްކޭމްގެ މައްސަލަތައް ވަރަށް ބޮޑަށް ކުޑަކުރެވޭނެ ގޮތެއް ކަމަށެވެ. ސްކޭމް ކޯލެއްގެ ނުވަތަ ލިންކެއްގެ ޝައްކު އުފެދިއްޖެނަމަ، ޢާންމުންނަށް މި އެޕްލިކޭޝަން މެދުވެރިކޮށް އެ ނަންބަރު ނުވަތަ ލިންކު ހޯދިދާނެއެވެ.
ސްކޭމަރުން މިހާތަނަށް ތަފާތު ގޮތްގޮތަށް ހީލަތް ހަދައިގެން މިލިއަނުން ރުފިޔާ ހޯދާފައިވެއެވެ.
މަޢުލޫމާތު ލިބުމުން އަމަލުކުރަންޖެހޭ ގޮތް:
އަޒީފް ވިދާޅުވީ، ސްކޭމް ކޯލެއްގެ ނަންބަރު ނުވަތަ މަޢުލޫމާތު ޢާންމުކުރެވުމާއެކު، އިންޓަނެޓް ޚިދުމަތްދޭ ކުންފުނިތަކުން އަވަހަށް ފިޔަވަޅު އަޅަން ޖެހޭނެ ކަމަށެވެ. ފިޔަވަޅު އެޅުން ލަސްވެއްޖެނަމަ، ސްކޭމްވާ މީހުންގެ ޢަދަދު އިތުރުވެގެންދާނެ ކަމަށް ވެސް އޭނާ ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ.
ސްކޭމްގެ މައްސަލަތައް ހުށަހެޅުމުން ތަހުގީގު ކުރިއަށް ނުދާކަމުގެ ޝަކުވާ ޢާންމުންގެ ފަރާތުން ލިބިފައިވާކަމަށް އިދާރާތަކުން ބުނެއެވެ. މި އެޕްލިކޭޝަން ލޯންޗުކުރުމުން، ސްކޭމްގެ މައްސަލަތަކުގެ އަޕްޑޭޓުތައް ވެސް ޢާންމުންނަށް ލިބޭނެ ގޮތް ހަމަޖެހިގެންދާނެއެވެ.
