This ranking places the Maldives alongside Ecuador and Timor-Leste, with all three countries sharing an identical visa-free score.
Globally, Singapore continues to dominate, offering its passport holders entry to 193 destinations without a prior visa. Malaysia and the United States are tied for 12th place with access to 180 countries, while the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates sit in the 8th tier, each allowing travel to 184 destinations. Compared to these global leaders, the Maldives falls into the mid-range of international mobility, reflecting steady but moderate travel freedom for its citizens.
Within South Asia, the Maldivian passport stands out as one of the strongest in the region. India ranks 85th with 57 visa-free destinations, Sri Lanka comes in 98th with access to 41 countries, and Bangladesh is placed 100th, permitting travel to 38 destinations. These figures underscore the Maldives’ comparative advantage in regional mobility, despite being a small island nation.
The Henley Passport Index evaluates passports based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), covering 199 passports and 227 travel destinations. The index highlights how freely citizens can travel without needing to obtain a visa in advance. The October 2025 update confirms the Maldives’ mid-tier position while indicating potential opportunities for further improvement through expanded bilateral agreements and international cooperation.
For Maldivians, the current ranking represents a respectable level of global travel access. However, with strategic diplomatic efforts and visa partnerships, there is room to climb higher in the global passport hierarchy, potentially opening more doors for business, tourism, and cultural exchange.

ދެކުނު އޭޝިއާގެ ގޮތުން ބަލާއިރު، ދިވެހި ޕާސްޕޯޓުގެ ޤަދަރު އެހެން ބޮޑެތި އަވަށްޓެރި ޤައުމުތަކަށްވުރެ މަތީގައި ދެމިހުރެއެވެ. އިންޑިއާ ވަނީ 57 މަންޒިލާ އެކު 85 ވަނަ ގައެވެ. އަދި ސްރީ ލަންކާ 41 މަންޒިލާ އެކު 98 ވަނައިގައި އޮތްއިރު، ބަންގްލަދޭޝް ވަނީ 38 މަންޒިލާ އެކު 100 ވަނައިގައެވެ. މި ސަރަޙައްދުގެ ޤައުމުތަކާ އަޅާ ބަލާއިރު ދިވެހި ޕާސްޕޯޓުގެ 94 މަންޒިލުގެ ފުރުޞަތު ވަރަށް ގަދައެވެ.
